This remarkable collection of approximately 900 rattles from all periods and cultures, supplemented by a multitude of related objects and curiosities, was assembled by the Amsterdam collector Heinz Keijser (1911–1988). After his death, the collection was placed in the H. Keijser Foundation, whose aim is to make both the collection and the ideas behind it accessible to the public. In 2024, the collection was transferred to the Royal Antiquarian Society (KOG), which has placed it on long-term loan with the Amsterdam Museum.
